BALTIMORE — Lyft is launching a car rental program in Boston, offering a car for $10 per hour or $50 per day, a new feature that was not previously offered in the city.

Lyft, which launched in New York last month, announced Tuesday it will open a car-rental service in Boston on Monday.

The new Boston ride service will be available for cars rented on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first customers invited to come in the afternoon.

Lyndis service will only work with cars with a verified Lyft account, Lyft spokeswoman Nicole Williams said in a statement.

The company said Lyft will be offering a free trip in addition to the first ride.
