NHL: Tampa Bay Lightning to hold off on trade of Tyler Johnson, Alex Killorn to Pittsburgh Penguins
TEXAS – The Tampa Bay Lighting and Tampa Bay Penguins have agreed to a trade that would send forward Tyler Johnson to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Alex Killorns first-round pick in 2017.
Johnson has one year remaining on his contract, which was bought out by the Lightning in July.
He is a restricted free agent.
The Penguins acquired Killorns, the fourth-overall pick in last year’s draft, in a deal that sent center Tomas Vokoun to the Tampa Bay Times.
The Lightning had the right to match the first-year salary cap hit and have until July 11 to make a trade.
The team did not announce a deadline date.
The Lightning and Penguins have not yet agreed on a contract extension.
The Tampa Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins have yet to agree on a deal.
