Three days after Trump lost the Republican nomination, a Republican strategist who worked for the Trump campaign says that the party will not let Carson take the nomination away from him.

“If you lose, Carson will not be able to go home,” the strategist, Paul Manafort, told CNN.

“You cannot have a convention without him.

He will have to have delegates in the convention.

If you lose that nomination, Carson has no chance of winning the presidency.”

Manafort was responding to reports that the convention would be held on Tuesday, with delegates being awarded based on how they voted in the primaries and caucuses.

He did not elaborate on the details of his prediction.

The Carson campaign did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.

Carson’s allies have said that he will still receive the delegates that he needs in order to secure the nomination and to clinch the Republican Party’s nomination.
